You are studying a combined bachelor's degree, whereby both the 90-credit major subject and the 60-credit module are studied at Freie Universität Berlin, and you would like to swap them, i.e. your previously studied 90-credit major subject becomes the 60-credit module and vice versa. An exchange is only possible if the desired new combination can also be studied (see combination options in the Bachelor's program).  Please enter the new desired combination on the application to change programs and submit it together with the classifications into the higher semester for each component of the combination, as well as a copy of your university entrance qualification (usually Abitur) by e-mail to the student administration by the start of lectures.

You are studying a combination bachelor, where all subjects are taken at Freie Universität Berlin and your bachelor combination can be studied both with and without a teaching option (see combination table). You have decided to change the teaching option for the same bachelor combination (from without teaching option with ABV to with teaching option with LBW or vice versa). Please select the new degree you are seeking on the application to change programs. You only submit the application to change programs by e-mail to the Student Administration Office by the start of lectures without any further supporting documents.

You would like to change the specialization subject. Please note on the application to change programs that you wish to change the major and enter your new major in the third line under "primary school major subject". You only submit the application to change programs by e-mail to the Student Records and Registration Office by the start of lectures. You can find more information here.

You are a limited enrolled in the first semester of a Master's program at Freie Universität Berlin and have studied your Bachelor's program at Freie Universität Berlin. However, you are unable to complete this in time to re-register for the second Master's semester (your degree must be fully recorded and entered by your department's examination office by the end of the semester). Therefore, you would now like to transfer back to the Bachelor in order to re-register. Please note on the application to change programs that you wish to downgrade to the Bachelor´s program. You will submit only the application to change programs by email to the Student Records and Registration Office by the start of lectures, with no additional supporting documentation.

If you are also enrolled at another university in Berlin/Brandenburg in addition to Freie Universität Berlin, one of the two universities is the first/main university at which you pay your semester fees and exercise your right of choice.

In some cases it is possible or necessary to swap the first and second university. In the case of joint degree programs, the first university is specified on the letter of admission.

1. if the FU was previously your first university and is to become your second university, you will find information here on the documents to be submitted in this case.
