semester fees

You can find all the information about outstanding fees in the “Fees” tab.

To access the fees tab, open your current application for registration renewal and then click on the “Fees” icon.

This will show each individual fee to be paid along with the corresponding bank details and transaction code. When making a bank transfer, be sure to include your personal transaction code!

A late fee (currently 19.94 euros) will be charged if the registration renewal fee is not paid by the deadline. The late fee is duefrom the first day after the registration renewal deadline (which is the last Friday of the teaching period), if the required semester fees and contributions do not show up on Freie Universität Berlin’s account by the deadline. Please keep in mind the time it will take your bank to process your payment!

To check the deadline for renewing your registration and the fees due, please click on the “Fees” tab. You can find more information at https://studium.fu-berlin.de/.

For students enrolled for more than one subject concurrently

From the first day of each semester (October 1 or April 1), an additional late fee of 19.94 euros will be charged for a late registration renewal (and/or late proof of enrollment at another university). You can find more information at https://studium.fu-berlin.de/.

“Open”: This means your fees have not yet been paid and/or are not yet showing up on the Freie Universität account. Please be aware that an electronic bank transfer can take up to three days to show up on our account.

Please note: Your fee status will also show as “open” if you have a credit to your account. A credit payment owed to you is indicated by a minus sign in front of the amount (e.g., -12.38 euros). On reimbursements to you, see FAQ reimbursements.

“Paid”: This means that all outstanding amounts owed by you have been paid. You do not need to do anything else. It may be that your request is still being processed and the status is about to change to “approved.” This usually takes one working day.

If the “Fees” tab shows that you are due a repayment, this will be transferred to you as soon as possible. A credit payment owed to you is indicated by a minus sign in front of the amount (e.g., -12.13 euros)

Please note that repayments can take up to 2-3 weeks to be processed. If the repayment is still not showing up on your account after this time, please contact the Info-Service Studium.
