Gerhard Schenck

Gerhard Schenck (born March 5, 1904 in Apenrade, Schleswig-Holstein; died March 3, 1993 in Berlin), a professor of pharmaceutical chemistry, was elected to serve as rector in July 1957.

Schenck studied pharmacy in Munich from 1925 to 1927, switching to chemistry from 1927 to 1929. He taught at Freie Universität Berlin starting in the summer semester of 1949, initially as a visiting professor and then, starting in 1950, as a full professor of pharmaceutical chemistry and applied pharmacy. He was the president of the German Pharmaceutical Society from 1966 to 1969.
