Are you in the final phase of your studies? You have completed your exams and are considering whether to follow your studies with a doctorate? Perhaps a doctorate has also been suggested to you? The decision for or against a doctorate depends not only on the suitable topic, but also on clarifying a variety of organizational and personal questions.

When weighing up the pros and cons, your motivation, your professional goals and, not least, your propensity for several years of self-disciplined scientific work are put to the test. Once the decision to pursue a doctorate has been made, the important organizational aspects such as finding a supervisor, financing and admission need to be clarified. If you deal with these issues early on, you will lay the foundations for a successful dissertation project.
