During the five days of lectures and workshops master students, doctoral candidates and post-doctoral researchers had a unique opportunity to broaden their knowledge in the areas of politics and economics, but also to get an expertise on topics such as culture and cultural heritage, economies and dynamics of startups and history of Middle East and Eurasia. Moreover they had the chance to get in touch with Egyptian and German experts and researches to receive a different perspective on economic and political tendencies and developments in the region.

"These five warm days in the heart of the arabic world will be imprinted in my memories as one of the most worthy academic experience I have ever had. A group of highly motivated young professionals and students as well as prominent professors from Germany and Egypt delivered a highly informative exchange of ideas on the contemporary problems of the modern economic and political situation in the MENA-Region, which almost always ended in very intensive discussions. The winter academy made us also love Alexandria and consider studying here for at least one semester" said Yusif Asadov, one of the participants attending the winter academy.
