Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will cover research and teaching in the fields of school pedagogy / school and educational research.

Appointment requirements:
Governed by Section 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz – BerIHG).

Additional requirements for the appointment include:
• An excellent record of research activities in the field of school and educational research
• A research focus in at least one of the following areas:
  - The prerequisites, conditions, and effects of teaching that promotes learning and development, with consideration of socio-emotional or socio-motivational teaching and learning factors
  - Composition effects in connection with teaching that promotes learning and development
• Teaching experience at the university level, including international teaching experience where possible
• Experience in acquiring and conducting externally funded research projects in the field of school and educational research

Expectations:
Along with the regular official duties of professors listed in Section 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:
• Lead the Division of School and Educational Research
• Carry out interdisciplinary collaboration with other divisions within the Department of Education and Psychology, the Dahlem School of Education (DSE), and other departments at Freie Universität Berlin involved in teacher training
• Work together with the Berlin-Brandenburg Institute for School Quality (Institut für Schulqualität Berlin/Brandenburg [ISQ])
• Initiate, further develop, and participate in regional, national, and international joint research projects and contribute to the relevant research communities
• Carry out teaching in modules offered as part of the teaching degrees at Freie Universität Berlin as well as in other relevant degree programs within the department; contribute to the further development of these degree programs
• Engage with gender and diversity issues relevant to their field in the context of their teaching, research, and administrative duties
