Bewerbungsende: 05.08.2024

The advertised position at the division of "Educational Research, with Particular Consideration of Heterogeneity and Education" (Head: Prof. Dr. Ursula Kessels) is part of a German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) funded research project, which is a sub-project of the DigiPatch project network ("Moving from networked to patchworked society: Motivational underpinnings and societal consequences"; for an overview, see https://digipatch.eu/), which is part of the EU-funded initiative CHANSE.

In this network, in several European countries we are investigating the interaction between the lack of fulfillment of psychological needs and the use of digital media on the possible development and the societal consequences of (radicalized) "micro-identities", which are separated from the majority of society. Aside from Prof. Dr. Ursula Kessels from the FU Berlin, our consortium include Prof. Małgorzata Kossowska (Jagiellonian University), Prof. Jesper Strömbäck (University of Gothenburg), Prof. Ana Guinote (University College London) and Dr. Manuel Moyano (Universidad de Córdoba). The integration of the subproject into this international research context offers an excellent opportunity for scientific networking and further qualification for the jobholder.

Job description:
The central tasks include the preparation, implementation, evaluation and reporting of the studies within the framework of the above-mentioned project, as well as the production of scientific publications. This includes communication with our international project partners, especially in Spain, and the third-party funding organization.

Requirements:
Completed university degree (Master or equivalent graduate degree) in psychology, doctorate in psychology or a related subject.

Desirable:

• experience with experimental research and programming computer-based experiments

• excellent knowledge of statistics

• experience in data analysis using statistical software

• practical experience with de-radicalization programs

• practical work experience with schools

• international scientific publications focusing on radicalization and extremism

• self-reliance, organizational skills and the ability to work independently

• ability to work in a team

• excellent knowledge of English and Spanish (C1)
