Michael Goebel is the Einstein Professor in Global History, the Co-Director of the Frankreich-Zentrum, and the Deputy Director of the Friedrich-Meinecke-Institut. He is the Principal Investigator of the SNSF-funded research project Patchwork Cities, which investigates the history of ethnic segregation in port cities and is currently working on a micro-history of urban space and real estate in nineteenth-century Buenos Aires as well as a book on the rise and fall of European hegemony in global urban history during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries commissioned by Cambridge University Press.

Job description:
- Assistance in preparation and planning of teaching (management of Blackboard courses; creation of bibliographies)
- support with the organization of conferences
- support of the department's research and publication activities
- Library and archival research, annotated bibliographies; review and evaluation of secondary literature
- support of the department's library service (borrowing and returning books)
- copy editing of scientific publications (English)

Desirable:
- Familiarity with subjects and approaches of Global History
- fluent English skills (oral and written, level C1)
- german skills (A2)
