The literature department offers instruction in the history and theory of US-American literature from its beginnings to the present, paying particular attention to the way the literary tradition is defined in North American, transatlantic, and global contexts. Classes focus on issues ranging from the formal to the social and the historical, and efforts are made to link the study of literature to art, theatre, and film.
Job description:
Main tasks
Assist to the chair of the literature department in the preparation of research and teaching e.g., selecting and compiling English texts and bibliographies, preparing seminars.
Supportive tasks
- Editing of academic texts in English: copy editing and proofreading
- Creating posters
- Maintaining the e-learning pages (Blackboard) and the bilingual department website
- supporting in the scientific conception and implementation of lectures, conferences and events, some of which are attended by international participants
Desirable:
- Students of North American literature as a major or minor subject (BA/MA)
- Applicants should have completed the basic module UNA and the literary studies orientation module in the BA North American Studies or be enrolled in the Master's program North American Studies with a focus on literary studies
- very good academic performance
- very good (C1) knowledge of English and German
- very good IT skills
- Interest in academic research
- Very good communication and teamwork skills
