This full-time position will be based at the Chair of Practical Philosophy at FU Berlin and funded in the context of the DFG project “Sexual Agency and the Erotic Experience” led by Prof. Dr. Manon Garcia. This DFG project aims to develop a rigorous concept of sexual agency and contribute to moral philosophical debates about sex and intimacy. Such an improved conceptualization of sexual agency will be the basis for new approaches to sexual ethics and enhance the traditional consent-based representations.

Job description:
The WiMi will work closely with Prof. Dr. Manon Garcia. They will be expected to conduct and publish their own research on the project topic, organise the academic events planned in the project, and participate in the other research tasks of the project.

Requirements:
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in philosophy (or in specific cases in political theory or gender studies as long as a strong training in philosophy was acquired) by the time of appointment.

Desirable:

Very good knowledge of English (level C1) and German (level B2) is required.
A very good dissertation in a relevant area of philosophy (ethics, applied ethics, feminist philosophy); strong research interest in sexual ethics and feminist philosophy; willingness to teach courses at Freie Universität Berlin; international experience, an interest in interdisciplinary discussions, teaching experience, and the ability and willingness to work in a team are highly desirable.

It is crucial for this project to be able and willing to engage with analytic philosophy, as well as with French and German philosophy of the 19th and 20th century. Given the profile of the PI, a preference will be given to candidates who are at least partly trained in the analytic tradition.
Ideally, the candidate would also have a reading knowledge of French but this is not a requirement.
