Fachbereich Physik - Institut für Experimentalphysik Drittmittelprojekt "UniSysCat"
Research assistant (postdoc) (m/f/d) full-time job limited to 31.12.2025 salary grade (Entgeltgruppe) 13 TV-L FU reference code: PHY-EPR_Postdoc_2024
Bewerbungsende: 14.10.2024
The excellence cluster UniSysCat aims for a basic understanding of catalytic networks and the creation of coupled catalytic reactions. There the approach is to learn from nature, how enzymes are designed for specific purposes and how they interact with each other to accomplish complex, coupled processes.
Dedicated to this overarching theme, in the EPR group we want to develop and establish methods to monitor paramagnetic species under operando conditions for catalysts and ambient conditions for enzymes.
Job description:
Within the cluster of excellence UniSysCat we are looking for a motivated person working at the interface of physics, chemistry and engineering. The applicant will utilise pulsed and time-resolved EPR methods, adapt and develop novel detection schemes, and implement these into existing EPR spectrometers. Furthermore, the applicant will investigate molecular catalysts and biological enzyme samples by EPR and hyperfine spectroscopy delivered from collaborating groups within UniSysCat. Close cooperation and knowledge exchange with other groups within UnisysCat investigating the same samples with other methods is required.
Requirements:
University degree in physics or chemistry or electrical engineering,
doctoral degree in these areas
Desirable:
Strong knowledge in application EPR spectroscopy, experience in investigation of paramagnetic metal centers, catalysts and metalloenzymes by EPR, experience in working with thin films and film substrate samples
