The Lichtenberg Professorship in Political Sociology aims at establishing an innovative research program for the study of political conflict, social movements, and civil society. It systematically links research on protest politics and civil society to research on cleavages and the restructuration of conflict. We are looking for a student familiar with and interested in research on social movement mobilization and party competition.

Job description:

Carry out extensive online literature searches & summarize findings in English; quantitative analyses of data sets with STATA or R; provide general project assistance

Desirable:

- studies in sociology, political science or a related social science discipline
- English proficiency (level C1)
- knowledge of quantitative methods, empirical social research, in particular descriptive and inferential statistical methods, including multivariate regression analyses
- knowledge of syntax-based statistical software (Stata or R)
- strong interest in research on political conflict, civil society, and protest
- desirable good knowledge (B2 level) of a further European language
