The center for Political and Legal Theory seeks a researcher for a 5-year prae-doc position with 50% of full-time employment.

The center for Political and Legal Theory, headed by Prof. Dr. Dorothea Gädeke, studies the normative, legal and social theoretic bases of political order. Research and teaching focus in particular on the tension ridden interplay between power, the law and freedom. The center has an international orientation and is committed to international cooperation.

Job descritption:

- Research for further academic qualification (doctorate) in the field of political theory/legal and constitutional theory

- teaching in the study programs offered at the OSI

- support in development and profiling of the research area

- conceptualizing and organizing academic events, incl. international ones (in collaboration with the head of the center)

- participation in relevant bodies of academic self-administration

Requirements:

- Completed university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent), prior to appointment, in Political or Social Sciences with a focus on Political Theory, in Philosophy with a focus on political, social or legal philosophy, in law with a focus on legal and constitutional theory, or in a similar field with a substantial focus on political theory.

Desirable:

- In-depth knowledge of political theory and/or philosophy;

- demonstrable expertise and special interest in legal or constitutional theory;

- (Ideas for a) PhD project in the field of political theory, political philosophy and/or legal and constitutional theory;

- high level of proficiency in English (written and spoken);

- high level of proficiency in German (written and spoken);

- international orientation;

- willingness to work in teams and for interdisciplinary collaboration;

- first experiences in university teaching or are keen on developing such experience.
