WiSe 22/23: The Political Economy of the USA in comparison

This course is meant to introduce students to the study of Political Economy, with a particular focus on comparative and critical perspectives. -----
A first block of sessions is dedicated to classic theories and concepts which shape contemporary scholarship in International and Comparative Political Economy. In a second block we discuss comparative approaches, which we will critically reflect on on the basis of the theoretical toolkit developed in block A. A third Block extends this discussion by looking at global developments of the political economy, especially regarding finance and climate change. -----
Overall, the aim of the course is to provide students with an overview of the development of the global political economy, with a particular focus on Critical Political Economy perspectives and issues of power.
