Kommentar
This seminar will look into current debates on postcolonialism in Germany and beyond. We will first discuss crucial work of decolonial thinkers in order to then delve into the various colonial entanglements of our own everyday life experiences in Berlin: How is Germany's colonial history archived in the city? In which ways does it influence the cultural sector of Berlin, particularly museums? And what kind of initiatives are currently active in order to engage with and change the coloniality of the urban? In the course of this semester, we will approach these questions through city walks, meetings with activists, museum visits and film screenings.
