This seminar provides a comprehensive overview of the role of nonverbal cues, specifically facial expressions and gaze direction, in shaping social cognition and behavior, and their impact on the processing of social exclusion. The course will be taught using a flipped classroom approach, where students are expected to read relevant materials and papers before each in-person class. This will facilitate active discussions and hands-on activities during class time. Participants will learn about the EEG Cyberball experiment and the theoretical framework on social exclusion and nonverbal cues. The seminar will also provide hands-on experience with recording EEG signals and basic EEG data analysis, and an overview of basic need threats and negative moods in relation to social exclusion.
In addition to the theoretical and conceptual components of the course, participants will be required to bring a participant and participate in the EEG experiment to gain first-hand experience with the procedures involved. This participation will compensate for a portion of the course hours.
This course is designed for individuals who are interested in learning about the impact of nonverbal cues on social cognition and behavior, and the effects of social exclusion on psychological well-being. If you have any questions, please feel free to attend the first course and ask questions. The final evaluation will likely be a presentation (subject to confirmation). Schließen
