Violence in 19th- and 20th-Century America: This seminar provides an overview of the history of violence in America in the 19th and 20th centuries. What was the role of violence in American history? How can we interpret violence historically? This seminar explores these questions using various historiographical sources, and through the lenses of race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality, religion, and socioeconomic status. By the end of the semester, students will have built a conceptual framework to discuss and write about American violence historically. The course will include sources about the U.S., Canada, and México. Schließen
