WiSe 23/24: Daily Life in North Korea

This course is an introduction to gaining an understanding of North Korea as it is, and exploring the daily lives of its people. With an abundance of information available on North Korea, it can be challenging to discern between direct information from the country and other sources that may contain propaganda or advertisements. However, it is important to hear their stories before passing judgment. This course will not focus heavily on politics and ideology, but instead will delve into topics such as economics, science and technology, education, culture, movies, drama, shopping, food, leisure, and work, providing a unique insight into daily life in North Korea. For some, it will be a strange journey into an unfamiliar land, while for others it will be a virtual visit to a mysterious country. The course is designed to broaden perspectives on Korea as a whole and will include 3-5 special lectures by guest speakers. It will be offered every winter semester with updated content. ‚HISTORY of NORTH KORES‘ is designed to be an advanced curriculum of this course. Schließen
