Overall aim and content:
In this Research Placement, students will learn how to conduct qualitative research with a focus on conducting and analyzing interviews and the analysis of text more generally.
The aim is for students to gain both theoretical and practical insights into the different steps of the research process.
Students’ projects should be related to the overall theme of “Gender, Diversity and Science” and focus on one of three sub-themes: (1) backlash against gender research, (2) international mobility in academia, and (3) gender and diversity aspects of academic careers in EU countries.
Tentative structure of the course: The course will combine mini-lectures with in-class discussion and hands-on practice sessions. This will allow students to gain research experience and discuss the methodological challenges they encounter in conducting a research project. We will discuss how to ask research questions, develop questions for interviews, and analyze interviews and other texts using the software MAXQDA (accessible through the FU). Schließen
