WiSe 23/24: Reading course: Archaeology as Anthropology
Henny Piezonka
Kommentar
As archaeologists, we strive to reach understandings of the life worlds of past communities, of “Others”. In this sense, archaeology can be seen as anthropology. In this reading course, cultural and social anthropological approaches in archaeology will be critically elaborated in the field of tension between analogy building and scientific broadening of perspectives. Against the background of new impulses from postcolonial, posthumanist and capitalism-critical discussions, we will also take a look at the future potential of this special field of research on the basis of selected texts.
