Kommentar
The goal of this reading course is to introduce its participants to the rich textual heritage of the Mamluk Sultanate and to provide them with opportunities to train their skills in working with premodern Arabic primary sources. Historiographical and geographical texts as two of the most prominent forms of Mamluk literature receive particular attention in the course. Moreover, the participants also gain experience in using sources by non-Muslim authors in the study of premodern Islamic history. Schließen
