This course provides a comprehensive examination of the role of technology tycoons in contemporary capitalism, with a particular focus on the cultures of regulation that surround their activities. Utilizing interdisciplinary approaches, students will explore the economic and cultural dimensions of tech entrepreneurship, innovation, and regulation (in particular). Topics covered include the rise of tech giants and their public image, market dominance, regulatory frameworks, cultural influences on regulation and innovation, and the implications for society. Students will gain an overview of the relationship between tech tycoons, regulation, and capitalism.
