WiSe 22/23: S-Socioling. and Varieties of English: Researching Multilingualism

This seminar focuses on the empirical investigation of various manifestations of multilingualism – as repertoires of individual speakers, in societies, in history, in different organisations and institutions, and in conversations and communicative situations. After a short introductory part focusing on theoretical foundations of current multilingualism research, students will be guided in a workshop on how to conduct their own research project. The main part of the semester will consist in planning, preparing, conducting, evaluating and presenting these projects in small research groups. Students are encouraged to bring their own experience with and ideas about multilingualism to their choice of project topic.
