WiSe 22/23: S - Strategien und Instrumente der Entwicklungspolitik Teil II - Gesellschaftliche Dimension: Environmental Justice in a More-than-Human World

The course adopts a social science perspective and examines social movements and critical perspectives that frame environment and human-environment relations as a matter of justice. We will explore the foundations of environmental justice as a social movement and a body of scholarship as well as their mutual relationship and evolution. We will investigate the ways in which the issues of environment relate and intersect with issues of race/ethnicity, class, and gender. We will also discuss the current and emerging issues (such as climate change and climate justice). 

Scrutinizing the concepts of justice, in/equality, nature, ecology, and society from different perspectives, the course also aims to discuss environmental justice in relation to critical, feminist, and more-than-human perspectives in human geography and beyond.
