SoSe 23: Politische Theorien der Antike

Das Seminar behandelt zentrale Texte der griechischen und römischen Antike. Ziel ist es, einen kritischen Überblick über das politische Denken einer Epoche zu erhalten, die auf die europäische Geistesgeschichte bis zur Moderne einen fundamentalen Einfluss hatte und zahlreiche unserer Begriffe wie Politik, Ethik, Republik, Tugend etc. prägte. Zugleich aber zeigt sich gerade in jüngster Zeit in den Debatten über das Erbe des Kolonialismus und der Gleichberechtigung der Geschlechter, wie sehr sich die antiken von den gegenwärtigen Ordnungsvorstellungen unterscheiden. Gelesen und gemeinsam diskutiert werden unter anderem Thukydides, Platon, Aristoteles, Polybios, Cicero und Seneca. Grundlage sind jeweils Auszüge aus den Originaltexten in deutscher Übersetzung. close
