SoSe 23: Power Elites in Eastern Europe

The class aims to provide students with a comprehensive overview of theories of elites, including elites’ recruitment and circulation with the focus on Eastern European states. Moreover, the seminar will include the topic of the networks of political and business elites as well as research approaches to explore these networks with the power interlocks perspective. Theoretical reasoning and empirical findings on legislative and executive elites and policy networks will be examined in comparison across societies with difference political contexts and changes.
