SoSe 23: Social network analysis in the study of Eastern Europe
Tetiana Kostiuchenko
Comments
The seminar presents the social network analysis (SNA) perspective in exploring various processes in Eastern European states – from policy making to informality in economy and everyday life. The SNA approach suggests a unique perspective in studying social life, focusing on structures of relations rather than individual actors. Therefore, it enables to trace the interdependencies between the actors, define the clusters of actors, reveal and draw these network structures with proper visualization tools (as will be practiced in exercise sessions). The seminar will also provide the skills for handling network data preparation and calculation of basic network measures (such as cohesion and centrality).
