SoSe 23: Hallyu Global? Current perception of Korea in Germany

This event has been conceived as a project seminar, and attendees are encouraged to participate actively and enthusiastically. Participants will have the opportunity to explore their personal experiences with Hallyu from a scholarly perspective. Additionally, the seminar will provide students with the chance to undertake small-scale research projects. close
Comments
For some time now, the Korean wave (Hallyu) has been making its mark internationally. However, German media outlets still appear to be taken aback by the success of Korea’s entertainment industry within their own borders. This course explores the topic of ‘Hallyu Global? Contemporary Perceptions of Korea in Germany’ from a variety of angles. How has the Korean wave evolved on the international stage, within Europe, and specifically in Germany? What part do culture, politics, economics, and technology play in this phenomenon? The aim of this event is to provide an opportunity to sketch out and critically examine the image of Korea that is emerging in Germany as a result of the Korean wave. close
