Economic Cooperation and Europeanization in South Caucasus - Elguja Khokrishvili
This course addresses the potential and limitations of the European Union Neighborhood Policy in sustaining the expansion of Europeanization towards the South Caucasus. The complex regional economic and political dynamics of the Caucasus constitute a challenging task for building regional cooperation and it highlights the challenges of economic and political governance. Students explore current developments and future trajectories of South Caucasus, while linking the EU’s Eastern Partnership policies to broader debates such as economic development and cooperation and democratization. Then the focus of the course shifts toward the country case studies of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The objective of the course is to provide students with knowledge and analytical tools that will enable them to understand of the development of the South Caucasus countries within the broader regional context of post-Soviet Eurasia and global development.
