SoSe 23: Political Philosophy of Mind (Englisch)

This course explores outlines of a politicized philosophy of mind. The philosophical study of mental processes will be shifted from classical concerns with the mind-body-problem such as mental causation, qualia and the naturalization of intentionality toward issues of (embodied) agency, affect, power, self-governance, sociality and (mental) institutions. The main aim of the course is to develop a constructive programmatic for subsequent work by analyzing and critiquing a number of theories and proposals. A central reference point will be work in 4EA philosophy of mind (embodied, embedded, enactive, extended, affective) and the situated affectivity approach. We will consider several case studies and explore case studies as a methodology. Authors to be discussed include Foucault, Deleuze, Butler, Protevi among others.
