Technologische und soziale Veränderungen charakterisieren die Menschheitsgeschichte seit Anbeginn. Manche sind derartig umwälzend, dass sie im Nachhinein als Revolutionen bezeichnet werden und Zeitenwenden in der Kulturgeschichte markieren.
In der zweisemestrigen Lehrveranstaltung soll das Konzept der „Revolution“ zur Beschreibung von sozio-technologischen Umbruchprozessen in der prähistorischen Kulturgeschichte Vorderasiens beschrieben, charakterisiert und bewertet werden. Im ersten Semester erfolgt das am Beispiel der „Neolithischen Revolution“. Im zweiten Semester wird die „Sekundärproduktrevolution“ in dem Seminar behandelt.
