WiSe 23/24: PS-Surveying English Literatures: Canadian Literature
Wolfram Keller
Comments
The aim of this seminar is to familiarize students with (recent) Canadian literature, especially Canadian fiction. Following a few introductory sessions concerned with Canadian history and Canadian culture, we shall read novels by Margaret Atwood (The Handmaid’s Tale, 1985) and Joy Kogawa (Obasan, 1981), followed by a couple of other novels or short story collections determined by the interest of the students (e.g. Dionne Brand, George Elliot Clarke, Carol Shields, Tanya Tagaq etc.). Students should have read the mentioned novels by the beginning of the semester. close
