In diesem Seminar werden die Studierenden in die Theorie der Relational Morphology eingeführt, einem aktuellen Modell der Morphologie im Kontext der Parallel Architecture von Ray Jackendoff. Die Relational Morphology nimmt eine gebrauchsgestützte Perspektive auf Sprache ein und betont die Rolle von Beziehungen zwischen lexikalischen Elementen. Wie andere konstruktions- oder schemabasierte Ansätze hat die Relational Morphology eine Reihe von Vorteilen gegenüber traditionellen generativen Ansätzen, darunter die Fähigkeit, nicht-produktive und semi-produktive morphologische Muster zu berücksichtigen. Am Ende des Seminars werden die Studierenden in der Lage sein, die grundlegenden Konzepte und den Formalismus der Relational Morphology auf eine Reihe von morphologischen Phänomenen aus dem Englischen und anderen Sprachen anzuwenden.
