and to integrate and administrate in a heterogeneous network network
- can describe the concepts of partitioning, virtualization and containers
and plan and deploy the technology
- can explain RAID concepts and set up storage systems in an application-specific manner,
configure and repair errors or component failures.
Contents:
Basics of operating system technology (scheduler, cache management, memory management,
communication protocols, file systems) Basic tasks of system administration. User administration,
RAID and storage management, network integration, network services, network information systems,
Partitioning and virtualization of operating system instances, containers, storage virtualization.
At the beginning of the course a resilient level of knowledge in the handling of the shells sh, ksh and csh is developed with practical examples.

In the practical part, operating environments are to be created on partitionable systems and on virtualizers. Operating system instances will be installed an configured in the previously created partitions and virtual machines and configured in a networked environment. The set up OS instances will be configured to furnish a network service inside the lab network such as fileservers, webservers etc.
