MÜ-Medieval English Literatures: Constructing the Medieval
Wolfram Keller
Comments
Complementing the discussion of Geoffrey Chaucer’s and William Shakespeare’s adaptations of the Troy story within this module’s seminar—in Troilus and Criseyde and Troilus and Cressida, respectively—we shall engage more deeply with theoretical work concerned with medievalism and constructions of time and temporalities. In the second part of the semester, we will then use this theoretical framework in order to reconsider the history of literary authorship which has hitherto rarely broached questions of continuities between medieval and early modern conceptualizations of literary authorship. close
