Language Course
Ü2-Contemporary Britain: Contemporary British Culture and Identity
Ruth Wishart
Comments
In the summer semester, we will analyse a broad spectrum of British popular culture such as pop lit, cinema, television, pop music, sports, food, drink, and many others, with a focus on language as a tool to express various forms of cultural identity, nationality, class, gender and ethnicity. We will also keep an eye on the development of topical issues in British politics – perhaps even a general election!
As in the winter semester, students will be required to deliver a 30-minute presentation, with a focus on an aspect of British popular culture.
The requirement for participation in the course is the successful completion of the first part of the module.
