General virology
Morphology and systematics of viruses, replication cycle of RNA and DNA viruses, general theory of infection: acute and latent infections, entry points of viruses: local and systemic infections. Humoral and cell-mediated immune response, vaccines, virus detection, diagnostics.
Specialised virology
Important veterinary pathogens of the individual virus families, in particular notifiable and notifiable epizootic pathogens. Systematics, replication cycle, portal of entry, aetiology, course and diagnosis of the disease, prevention and control by means of vaccination or hygiene measures, significance for human health in zoonoses
