The weekly Master Colloquium “Academic Practice” is a compulsory course for students who plan to submit their Master thesis in Economics or Public Economics during the current semester. In order to complete the course, students have to participate in all meetings.
[Note: Students who write their Master thesis at the Economics Chairs of the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies (Prof. Steinhardt), the Institute for Latin American Studies (Prof. Fritz, Prof. Santos Silva) or the Institute for East European Studies (Prof. Grigoriadis) participate in the Master Colloquium of the respective institute, see information below.]
The Master Colloquium “Acadamic Practice” provides students with the possibility to present the preliminary results of their thesis and receive feedback, constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement of their research project. Students will also learn about other students’ theses. Students will practice important academic skills, like presenting own research, discussing the work of fellow students, or providing constructive feedback. In each meeting, up to three students will present their theses (about 30 minutes per student).
