WiSe 24/25: Migration: A Minor Archive

Omar Kasmani

Comments

This course will seek to understand migration and its many afterlives through the lens of affect and intimacy. From migrant biographies to ethnographies of migration, between diasporic art and film, students will learn about displacement (spatial and temporal), ideas of home and un/belonging as well as migrant and minority relations to dominant and/or colonial histories. Readings will point to ideas of migrant feeling, the production of cultural borders, racialized infrastructures of mobility as well as temporal questions that make migrancy a hot topic in the present. More importantly, thinking queers, migrants and minorities in conjunction, students will gain an understanding of the politics of alterity but equally an appreciation for the felt and intimate archives of migrant knowledge. close
