MSc-GG042: V - Themen der Strukturgeologie – Introduction to analogue modelling of (seismo)tectonic processes
Ehsan Kosari
Additional information / Pre-requisites
The course will be held as a block course before or after this summer semester, and the final exam will be a practical/report exam. The details are flexible and will be discussed with students before starting the course.
The course will be held at HelTec - Helmholtz Laboratory for Tectonic Modelling at GFZ in the City of Potsdam (Potsdam can be reached via S7 and RE).
There is currently no registration in Campus Management possible. For registration, please contact Ehsan Kosari, ehsan.kosari@gfz.de

Requirements:
This block course is recommended for MSc students interested in sedimentary basins and structural geology, mountain building, and earthquakes and seismotectonics. Also, BSc students with an essential background in structural geology/tectonics/sedimentary basins/ earthquakes will be qualified for the course.
Content:
The focus of the course will be on the (seismo)tectonic processes and cover material property measurements by laboratory machinery (e.g., ring-shear tester), principal experiments mimicking different tectonic settings at different timescales (from earthquake to mountain building), and high-resolution laboratory monitoring techniques.
