Upcoming Event: Academia in Exile

This event takes place the 13th of September from 19:30 to 21:00 at FUTURIUM Berlin or online.

News from Jul 27, 2023

In a democratic society, the freedom of science is essential. Researchers and students will often adopt critical positions. In some countries, academics are forced to flee as a consequence. Exile becomes their new (academic) home and sometimes also a place of hope where they can talk about the future of democracy in their homelands.
For this reason, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) are organizing Academia in Exile in which researchers and students will talk about their experiences in exile and discuss the challenges of science diplomacy, international exchange and the solidarity in teaching and research.
Panelists:
• Professor Tatiana Shchyttsova, professor of philosophy and Academic Director of the Center for Philosophical Anthropology at the European Humanities University in Vilnius, Lithuania. Country of origin: Belarus
• Dr Azadeh Ganjeh, theatre academic, University of Hildesheim. Country of origin: Iran
• Nickey Diamond (Ye Myint Win), doctoral student, University of Konstanz (DAAD). Country of origin: Myanmar

Moderation: Ilyas Saliba
