The Cairo Liaison Office supports students of Freie Universität in finding a suitable Arabic language course in the region. In cooperation with Ain Shams University, we organize Arabic summer courses in Cairo. For foreign students, the Summer and Winter School of Freie Universität (FUBiS) offers a rich combination of language courses and courses from specific fields of study.

Furthermore, Freie Universität and its partners organize subject-specific summer schools in Cairo. From July 18 until August 5, 2010, Prof. Ute Luig and Prof. Helen Rizzo led the summer school “Gender Inequalities, Sexuality and the State” (.doc, German). On December 5-16, 2010, the Forum für Transregionale Studien (Forum for Transregional Studies) organized the winter school "Zukunftsphilologie: Textual Practices beyond Europe 1500-1900" at the American University in Cairo. In September 2011, Prof. Joanne Rowland led a field school for young archaeologists in Quesna.
