Based on the IT security manual by BSI and the relevant recommendations regarding information technology used by the federal administration as provided by the German federal government's coordination and consultation office, an evaluation scale of security requirements (protection requirements) was set up and standardised for the Free University of Berlin.  This evaluation scale defines three different values (protection levels) "low to medium", "high" and "very high" to classify protection requirements and describes the relevance of said values in view of various criteria.  The evaluation process constitutes the basis for a uniform evaluation of the protection requirements relating to the various IT process projected or operated by the Free University of Berlin.
