There are numerous thematic working groups that complement and support the Steering Committee for Sustainability & Climate Protection, whose main task is the strategic further development of sustainability management at Freie Universität Berlin. The working groups initiate programs, develop concrete instruments, and implement them. In total, nine working groups deal with the following topics:

• Research
• Campus (with various subgroups)
• Participation & Communication
• Libraries & Sustainability
• Biodiversity
• Procurement
• Mobility
• Transfer

In addition to the topic-specific groups, sustainability teams within the departments focus on optimization measures and specific sustainability projects. With the teams, we aim to promote internal dialogue and understanding processes and consolidate and integrate expert knowledge from various levels and departments.

The working groups and teams meet once to three times a year. The meetings are coordinated by the Sustainability & Energy Unit. Interested university members are warmly invited to participate.
