An international approach has been a key part of research and academic life at Freie Universität ever since the university was founded.

Freie Universität currently maintains more than 100 bilateral partnership agreements that apply university-wide, and there are over 340 university partnerships within the ERASMUS mobility network and more than 50 department and institute partnerships as well. The university also maintains worldwide liaison offices located in Beijing, Cairo, Eastern Europe (Tbilisi), New Delhi, and São Paulo. Each office helps to expand and maintain the university’s international network within that specific region on an ongoing basis.
