The Graduate Program provide doctoral researchers with a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary basis in biodiversity research, and promote intensive interaction between doctoral researchers, postdocs and senior researchers in an interdisciplinary environment. Next application deadline: 1st of February 2021

The purpose of the Graduate Program "Biodiversity, Evolution and Ecology" is to educate the next generation of biodiversity researchers and imbue them with a broad understanding of biodiversity science, an unprecedented toolbox of quantitative skills and a spirit of cooperation and networking.

The graduate program was established in December 2015 with a focus on biodiversity related research at Freie Universität Berlin. Focusing on biodiversity, PhD projects and courses will bridge between disciplines, topics and scales in biodiversity research. 13 research groups at different institutes cooperate for the program. As member of the Dahlem Research School (DRS), the graduate program implements certain standards concerning the admission process, supervision of students and the curriculum.

Research within the program is embedded in the Berlin-Brandenburg Institute of Advanced Biodiversity Research (BBIB).

Closing dates for application are the 1st of August (for the following winter semester) and the 1st of February (for the following summer semester). Exceptions may be possible, please contact the program coordination.
