On June 17 and 18, 2025, doctoral candidates at Freie Universität will elect their departmental representatives to the doctoral student council.

Are you interested in getting involved in the doctoral student representation?

The doctoral student representation is intended to represent the interests and concerns of all doctoral students at FU Berlin in the departments, the central university committees and outside the university. We want to represent the diverse doctoral student body of the FU and are happy to welcome anyone who would like to get involved in our work.

Our central concerns are

• to achieve better conditions for doctoral candidates and
• to be a contact point for networking and exchange.

Regardless of whether you are at the beginning of your doctorate, already advanced, employed at Freie Universität or doing your doctorate externally, whether you have completed your studies in Germany or abroad - everyone is welcome.

Who can vote and be elected?

•  All doctoral candidates at Freie Universität Berlin who are members of the FU are eligible to vote (§ 3 Abs. 1 HWGVO)

Who is elected?

• Two representatives and two deputies can be elected per FU department

How can I stand for election?

• Election proposals can be submitted to the decentralized election offices of the department to which they belong until 12 May 2025.
• You can submit the nomination individually or together with several people.
• When submitting your nominations, you must indicate whether you wish to be elected as a member or deputy member of the doctoral student representation.
• You can find the necessary forms here on the website of the Central Election Board.

Dates and deadlines

• Display of the list of eligible voters: April 25 to May 12, 2025
• Election date: June 17 and 18, 2025
• Deadline for submitting election proposals: May 12, 2025, 12 noon (receipt by the Central Electoral Board office, forwarding via the departments)
• Absentee ballot application: by June 3, 2025
