Public lectures. A public lecture series was started in 1984 under the name of University Lectures. In 2004 they were renamed Open Lecture Halls. The interdisciplinary lecture series are aimed at students from all the academic departments as well as the general public.

For more than four decades, Freie Universität has been holding public interdisciplinary lecture series every semester. The lectures, discussions, and talks on current topics are designed to be understandable for the general public. They cover the fields of science, society, nature, and technology.
