Together we can. A key component of Freie Universität’s strategy for future development in the German Excellence Initiative was to provide support for researchers in the early stages of their careers. To this end the Dahlem Research School was set up in 2007 as an umbrella organization offering structured doctoral programs and an interdisciplinary professional training program. Freie Universität was one of the first German universities to create this type of central unit. Today the programs offered by the Dahlem Research School are available to all the doctoral candidates within the Berlin University Alliance.
