The following personal data is subject to processing: Personal information that Deutschlandstipendium applicants have already provided when enrolling at Freie Universität Berlin (basic information, contact details, information on their studies, university entrance qualification grade if applicable), as well as information on academic performance, professional experience, awards, honorary offices, volunteer positions, and applicant’s family/personal situation.
Processing your personal data serves the purpose of the university organizing the application and selection procedure for the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship program.
The legal basis for processing this data is the consent form you submitted. In the event that you wish to refuse consent to let us process your personal information, there will be no negative consequences. If providing personal data for data processing is required by law, by contract, or necessary for the conclusion of a contract, failure to provide the data may mean that the obligations we have to you cannot be fulfilled. In the case of revoked consent, the personal data will be deleted and your application will not be considered in the selection process.
In any case, we do not share your personal data to third parties without your express consent, which we would request separately.
Your data will be deleted as soon as the processing has been completed for the intended purpose and as long as there is no legal retention period to the contrary.


As a data subject, you are entitled to the following rights:

  • The right to revoke consent at any time effective from that point on, without affecting the legality of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent prior to revocation
  • The right to be informed
  • The right to rectification
  • The right to erasure
  • The right to restrict processing

Legal Basis for Awarding Scholarships

You do not have a legal entitlement to support provided by the Deutschlandstipendium.

We can only include your application in the selection process if you submit it before the application deadline that applies to you.

The application deadline communicated on our webiste are cut-off deadlines. The date and time when you submitted the online application is what counts. Applications that are submitted after the deadline or that are incomplete or otherwise not properly submitted will not be considered. We are under no obligation to inform applicants if they submit incomplete applications or fail to submit a complete application by the deadline.
